Our Story

Midwest Tents & Events emerges as the latest chapter in a family-owned legacy spanning over 40 years. The journey commenced in 1976 when Richard Curtis acquired the family's inaugural rental store in Antioch, IL. Originally a hobby business, A to Z Rental in Antioch flourished under the Curtis family's guidance. The expansion continued with the purchase of C. Davis Rental in Chicago, IL, in 1980, and the opening of A to Z Rental in Fox Lake, IL, in 1990.

As the '90s progressed, Bob Curtis at A to Z Rental in Fox Lake broadened the offerings from tools and construction equipment to encompass backyard party essentials. As Adam Curtis assumed a pivotal role, the company's repertoire expanded to include premium items like wedding tents, staging, and dance floors. In 2014, Midwest Tents & Events emerged in DeKalb, IL, strategically positioned to serve clients across Northern Illinois. The focus shifted exclusively to event rentals, leaving behind tool and equipment rental.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world, prompting shutdowns and cancellations. In response, Midwest Tents & Events re-introduced tool and equipment rental under the banner of DeKalb Tool Rental, adapting to the evolving landscape.
